Nick has more than 30 years of financial services experience and has managed a broad spectrum of wealth management businesses. Prior to joining DLP Capital, he served as CEO of Blue Trust. Prior to that, he co-founded and was CEO of Vident Financial, an investment management firm. He also served as Regional Head of Private Wealth Management for Regions Financial. Before that, he worked at Merrill Lynch in several capacities including chief executive officer of Merrill Banc Suisse and global head of international trust and wealth structuring, global co-head of private wealth services, and director of private banking. He was also the director of Private Banking in Amsterdam, NL. In addition, Nick has been chief executive officer at BCR and started his career at Sun Trust Bank. Nick earned his master’s degree in international business studies from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.
Mr. Bertha works with clients on complex estate and income tax issues, and helps ultra-high-net-worth families manage their wealth. He has expert-level capability in tax law, wealth transfer, and trusts & estates. His extensive career, spanning over 30 years, includes prominent positions at Credit Suisse, DLJ and US Trust Company, where he led the Financial Counseling Group for many years. His work has been published in leading journals including Trusts & Estates Magazine and the Tax Lawyer. He is currently on the Conference Board of the Trust & Wealth Management Division of the American Bankers Association. Mr. Bertha has a BA and JD from Marquette University and a MS in Taxation from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee campus.
Formerly Brian was the Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director, East Region, of Global Family and Private Investment Office Services at Northern Trust. He was responsible for an integrated team of specialists who deliver banking, investment and wealth transfer solutions within an exceptional asset servicing framework. Previous to that, Brian was a Managing Wealth Advisor in the East Region at Northern Trust. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Brian was most recently a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young’s Personal Financial Services Group. As a result, Brian has significant experience with tax and wealth planning and transfer tax matters affecting entrepreneurs, executives, and wealthy individuals and families. He has worked with numerous families to develop state-of-the-art wealth maximization plans through the use of family-controlled entities, effective gift and estate planning, income tax planning, stock option planning and charitable planning. His professional experience also includes four years in the trusts and estate practice of Day Pitney law firm and more than five years with Arthur Andersen and a related entity, WTAS, Inc.
Brian graduated from Suffolk University Law School and received his Master of Laws in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law. Brian is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Shirley Posada previously served as a Senior Vice President in the Wealth Management Group at Northern Trust. Shirley first joined Northern Trust in 2003 and spent over twenty years of her career there as a senior client advisor and lead relationship manager. In her position, Shirley was responsible for client servicing and administrative oversight for high-net-worth individuals and families. Throughout her career, Shirley has been an unwavering advocate for her clients, proactively assessing and advising her clients on planning opportunities. In addition to ensuring optimal delivery of services to her clients, Shirley also coordinates necessary integration and collaboration among her client’s outside counsel and advisors. With a full breadth of expertise ranging from investment management, financial planning to legacy planning and philanthropic missions, as well as household operational concerns, real estate management, private jet analytics and more, Shirley draws from all areas of wealth management disciplines to meet the needs of her clients. Prior to her time at Northern, Shirley held client-focused positions at Charles Schwab as a client servicing advisor.
Shirley has a bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Goias (UEG), Brazil.
Paul Scrocco brings more than eight years of experience advising high-net-worth individuals and families on tax, estate, and wealth planning strategies. He most recently served as a Wealth Advisor at Northern Trust, where he worked with clients on integrated wealth management and planning solutions. Prior to Northern Trust, Paul was part of PwC’s individual tax group, advising clients on complex tax matters.
Paul holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Accounting from Wagner College. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York, a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, and an active member of the New York State Society of CPAs.
